Provenance Services & Certificates

At Metro Imaging we offer a complete range of Provenance Services for certifying your artworks and editions; whether it’s digital tagging, traditional certificates of authenticity, or stamping and embossing your prints.

Please note that provenance services and certificates are only available when using our Bespoke Service.

In the art world, provenance of an artwork is commonly expected across the industry. Artworks that have been sold and held in private or institutional collections or exhibitions, can be more easily validated if tagged by a registered provenance process.

We’re here to assist you in choosing the correct option for your work. Find out more about our services below, or get in touch with your specific enquiry.

Metro Imaging is the first UK-based, integrated tagging and certification reseller of Tagsmart’s technology. Tagsmart is a British tech company offering a complete art certification, DNA tagging and provenance cataloguing solution designed to build a new level of trust in the art market.

Certificate of Authenticity

A Certificate of Authenticity is a signed document proving the authenticity of the work and containing details about the artwork for the collector’s reference. We offer our own Certificates of Authenticity signed by a print technician or production manager, verifying the artwork is produced at our lab and signed-off by the artist.

Limited Editions

Metro Imaging was one of the first UK photo imaging companies to introduce a bespoke Limited Edition print service for photographers and artists. The demand for limited edition runs of prints is expanding and with that, there comes a responsibility for establishing both quality and provenance.

We work very closely with clients to produce high-quality master prints. Once these prints are produced any further run on or edition is guaranteed to be consistent with the first print. Our specialist printers and technicians work – machines are regularly calibrated and serviced to ensure continuity and printers liaise directly with clients to maximise the working partnership.
