Until recently, lightboxes were restricted in size, light spread, and weight by cumbersome florescent tubing that required deep profiles for cooling.

Now, with the developments in energy-efficient LED technology, light is available in sheets instead, creating new possibilities for lightbox size, weight, design and most importantly, colour-accuracy. Joining forces with LED technologists, we have developed colour-accurate lightboxes that can be colour-balanced exactly to our Kodak Duratran film material.

Metro are the only photographic printers in the UK offering colour accurate Kodak Duratran prints up to 72” wide, enabling our customers to create lightboxes up to mural size.

Get in touch if you would like more information on costs and turnaround times or book a consultation to come see how they work in situ.

At Vogue and National Portrait Gallery we really can say, without any question how much we appreciated all the work Metro put in.

As opposed to reverse mounting, acrylic mounting presents the prints bonded to the surface of an acrylic sheet, on top rather than on the back. This is an optional presentation for pop-up shows, however, due to the vulnerability to be damaged without any protection, we wouldn’t recommend it for other ways of exhibiting.

Aluminium mounting is widely popular due to the archival quality of the material. Although considerably heavier and slightly less rigid than Dibond, Aluminium has the advantage of a clean silver edge which many find attractive. Delivered with an option of wooden battens or an aluminium sub-frame depending on the size of the print.

MDF mounting is an effective and economical way of displaying prints, available in different thicknesses. Although heavy, MDF is very rigid and the painted edges create a finished effect for mounted prints that, especially when sealed, will stand up to the toughest environments.
