Types of photo printing available at Metro
C Type Professional Photo Printing
Digital C Type photographic prints produced on our Lambda or Lightjet photographic printers have the archival and tonal benefits of traditional photographic papers, with the advantages of digital photo printing.
C Types are essentially a conventional photographic print from a digital file, and as such are the most suitable option when printing a colour photograph, to display either mounted or framed.
Fine Art Giclée Printing
Our Giclée print studio brings together more than 30 years experience in traditional photographic printing, with the technological advancements of inkjet technologies.
Giclée's are a gallery quality inkjet print onto fine art watercolour paper. They are most suitable for printing art illustrations, but can also be used for printing colour and black and white photographs.
Black & White Printing
Metro worked in close collaboration with Harman Technology to develop silver gelatin bromide fibre based and resin coated photographic prints from digital files. This allows museum quality real black and white prints from new or archive digital files.
Resin coated is the cheaper of the two process's, and is suitable for most types of black and white printing, without the danger of a colour cast. Fibre paper takes your images to another level and is great for gallery or museum use.
One of the great features of our new Superwide Lightjet XL500 is the ability to produce mural size photographic Duratrans (up to 3m x 1.8m) at a level of quality unmatched by anything else out there.
Duratrans have to be lit from behind, so need to be mounted in a pre existing rear lit display, or we produce led lightboxes inhouse, essentially a conventional photo frame containing the duratran and an led panel, suitable for exhibitions, museums, homes and galleries.
Direct to Media Printing
Direct to media printing is exactly that; we print your image directly to a substrate of your choice. Be it paper, card, aluminium, Perspex, canvas, wood, slate...
Our Jetrix UV inkjet flatbed printer can print on any flat surface up to 3m x 2m, less than 10cm thick. To ensure your material is suitable, we can print test prints around A4 in size.
Vinyl Phototex is chosen for it’s high quality Giclée finish as well as its ease of application to wall or mounting material due to it’s self-adhesive properties.
We can print on self adhesive vinyl, using our direct to media printer, in strips of 1.5m x 3m and these can be applied to the wall in the fashion of wallpaper to cover a complete wall or interior.
