Job description Working closely with the Financial Controller (FC), this position will aid the management, development and control of the Finance department and be responsible for looking after all the financial systems and controls already in place. Assist FC in ensuring all finance related issues in Metro are dealt with correctly and efficiently, including management accounts, financial statements, cash flow, asset management, systems and controls throughout the company. Responsibilities Line manage 3 staff, ensuring role is performed effectively, partly through monthly 1 to 1’s. Preparing reports to the bank, plus HP finance and detailed week to week cash movements. The timely production of monthly management accounts, KPIs and management statistics. Review of monthly reconciliations and analysis of results. Liaison with External Auditors for annual, interim audits, taxation and other work. Assist with the preparation of annual budgets including liaising with Department Managers for estimated costs and plans. Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements, working with Auditors and Tax Advisors. Preparation of quarterly VAT returns. Oversee the preparation of the monthly payroll and reporting. Assist with FC and Directors with HR matters. Ensuring accounting systems and controls are in place and being adhered to across the business, involving communicating with non-finance people at all levels. Ensuring the production systems from the 2 sides of the business are working in line with the accounting system, Exchequer, including working with the Production Managers. Assisting with HR issues across the business in the absence of the FC. Other ad hoc duties. Qualifications and Experience ACCA or CIMA part/fully qualified, or qualified by experience. Significant solid accounting experience. Considerable management experience. Qualities Good organisational and communication skills, particularly with non-finance people. Strong management and mentoring skills. Quick to learn and accurate attention to detail. Proactive and flexible approach. Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and to work to tight deadlines. Good organisational and leadership skills. Committed to achieving the company’s goals.
